Last 11 children at Nui Dat Kindy

We are saddened to report that the Nui Dat Kindergarten closed after 7 years of service to the local community. We were aware of declining numbers for some time. On a recent trip to Vietnam, Rob Scott and Dave White spoke to the principal who explained that a large kindergarten with capacity for more than 300 children has built by the Education Department nearby and all but 11 children had already transferred there prior to the start of the school year. The principal is hopeful that the closure is only temporary and is continuing in her efforts to reopen it. Rob and Dave reassured her of AVVRG’s continuing support in that event.

AVVRG is proud of the role the kindergarten has played in the local community over the last 7 years, but we recognize the ongoing investment that the Vietnamese Government is making in the education of children in the region.

For some time now the NSW Education Team has broadened its focus by providing practical support to a number of needy primary schools such as Bong Trang Primary School and will continue to identify other schools in need. Uniforms, computer equipment, photocopiers and audio visual equipment have all been provided in the last 18 months.

The NSW Education Team acknowledges our sponsors such as Pimlico State High School and Epping Boys Public School who help fund this work.
