Our member Dave White has made several visits to Bong Tran Primary School to ascertain how AVVRG may be able to help. Bong Tran Primary is a small school in the poor rural district of Xuyen Moc in Ba Ria Vung Tau Province. It has approximately 180 students of which about 70 are from poor families. As you can see from the photo the schoolyard is bare dirt which obviously gets quite muddy in wet weather.
In September 2016 Bong Trang Primary School was also visited by students from Pimlico State High School in Townsville and they have made a generous contribution to AVVRG to be allocated to Bong Tran. As an initial practical measure, we have donated the cost of 120 school uniforms and the same number of sports uniforms for deserving students. We are also evaluating a list of requirements for equipment and teaching aids for further funding in consultation with Pimilico SHS.
Over time we hope to develop a long term relationship with Bong Tran Primary School to help improve their educational facilities.
